- Virtual Faculty Residencies (June 2-13, via Zoom): We welcome applications from faculty interested in the emerging field of plant humanities who want to integrate more primary and digital sources about plants into their teaching. Over two weeks, 10-12 participants will engage in seminar discussions, workshop teaching ideas, and provide feedback on our open access digital resource, the Plant Humanities Lab. Participants receive a stipend of $800--the total time commitment is approximately 20-25 hours. More information can be found here; the application deadline is February 15.
- Plant Humanities Summer Program (June 30-July 25, in person at Dumbarton Oaks, Washington, DC): Designed to introduce participants to the emerging field of plant humanities, the program admits 10 graduate students and advanced undergraduates each summer. The session includes two additional weeks of virtual work (July 28-August 8 via Zoom) to research and write a plant cultural history for digital publication. The curriculum covers key concepts and methodologies from various disciplines, including botany, evolutionary biology, history, art history, literature, indigenous studies, and environmental studies. Participants also receive training in digital skills and the use of special collections. They then work in teams to create interactive, peer-reviewed plant narratives for the Plant Humanities Lab . Dumbarton Oaks covers travel expenses, accommodations, lunch, and site visits during the residential component. More information can be found here; the application deadline is February 15.
