Environmental History of the Ottoman Empire and Turkey (Universität Hamburg, Asien-Afrika-Institut, 27-28 October 2017)

The TürkeiEuropaZentrum (TEZ) of the Universität Hamburg, Germany, will host on 27-28 October 2017 an academic workshop to examine new approaches to the environmental history of the Ottoman Empire and of Turkey.

Ecosystem Services in European Floodplains Conference (Padua, Italy, 17-19 May 2017)

The International Conference on Environmental History “Ecosystem Services in European Floodplains”, which will be held at the Department of Historical and Geographic Sciences and the Ancient World – DiSSGeA of the University of Padua, Italy on 17-19 May 2017, will provide a venue for all researchers interested in interdisciplinary research on ecosystem services in European floodplains from ancient time to the contemporary age. The conference will welcome also papers addressing the issue of the ecosystem services from a critical point of view. Ecosystem service topics in this conference will not be limited to the following themes in the geographical context of floodplains.

VII MEETING OF BRASPOR NETWORK (Sesimbra, Portugal, 18-21 September 2017)

BRASPOR network is an informal group of Portuguese and Brazilian researchers, from Natural Sciences and Social Sciences and Humanities, that works about coastal zones and watersheds. The meetings, taking place on an annual basis, in Portugal and Brazil, aim to create a space to discuss work in progress and to increase cooperation between researchers from different scientific areas. These events are open to all people interested in the theme.

OCEANS PAST VI CONFERENCE (Sesimbra, Portugal, 16-18 May 2017)

Registration to the Oceans Past VI conference are open until April 17. The works of the COST – Action Oceans Past Platform (2015-2018) will be presented in this meeting. This project aims to analyze the implications of human impacts on marine life and to develop historical descriptors and indicators for marine and coastal management. The Action calls on historians, archaeologists and social scientists as well as colleagues from the marine sciences to engage in dialogue and collaboration with ocean and coastal managers.
